Terms of Use

Last updated: 6 November 2026

These terms govern your access to and use of the DocSec website and platform. By using DocSec, you agree to them. Where your organisation has a signed agreement with DocSec, that agreement takes precedence over these terms.

1. The service

DocSec lets institutions issue, store and manage official documents and credentials, and lets third parties verify them in real time. Features, pricing and service levels are described on our pricing page and in your organisation's agreement.

2. Accounts and Key Users

  • Each institution appoints a Key User who manages its account and staff access.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us promptly of any unauthorised use.

3. Acceptable use

  • Only issue documents your institution is authorised to issue.
  • Do not upload unlawful, fraudulent or infringing content.
  • Do not attempt to forge, tamper with or misrepresent documents or verification results.
  • Do not probe, disrupt or bypass the platform's security, or test it without written permission.
  • Do not resell or sublicense access except as agreed in writing.

4. Institution responsibilities

Institutions are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the documents they issue, for having a lawful basis to process holder data, and for responding to requests from document holders.

5. Fees and payment

Issuance units, verifications and licences are charged at the rates in your organisation's agreement or our published pricing. Fees are payable as invoiced and are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

6. Intellectual property

DocSec and its software, design and branding remain our property. Institutions keep ownership of the documents and data they upload, and grant us the rights needed to provide the service.

7. Privacy and security

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. Security controls are described on our security page.

8. Availability

We aim to keep DocSec available and to meet the service levels in your agreement, but planned maintenance and events outside our reasonable control may cause interruptions.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend access that breaches these terms or threatens the platform's security. On termination, institutions may export their data within the period set out in their agreement.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Except as stated in a signed agreement, the service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, DocSec is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the fees paid in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will post changes on this page. Governing law and dispute resolution are as set out in your organisation's agreement.
